If a Purge ever became legal would you participate?
If a Purge (as noted in a line of movies of the same name) became legal, for 12 hours you could harm, kill, beat, etc. anyone with not penalty or legal repercussions, would you? What if you were beckoned by a mob of people you knew to go out and ”get those people”, those whom society may deem as parasites, addicts, those on Megan’s list, suspected terrorist, homeless people, etc. would you be strong enough to say “no” if they asked you? If you participated, who would you kill if you knew you would never see a day in jail because of it?

The only purge I care about is when Jesus calls his people out of this mad mad mad mad world.
Nope. Unless hiding in a bunker is participating.
The Purge was really about thinning the heard of the poor. Only the rich can afford weapons, and/or protection in those movies. The poor are hunted down at the amusement of the rich. There is already a war on the poor. It’s going well….
I wouldn’t personally go and kill anyone. Unless they corner me. Then, hopefully they came prepared…
Of course not.
That is a colonial fantasy scenario.
@ragingloli The scenario is real enough that judges leave the country just before rebellion breaks out. They understand the scenario PERFECTLY.
I’d purge the people advocating purges. Sick.
I am not hiding a secret urge for violence that is only suppressed by the law. No.
I’d probably spend that night hiding in a bunker from those who would think I am nothing more than a freeloader or a drain on resources and maybe smoking some marijuana, since that’s the one law I have any desire to break, lol.
No.
Respect for the law is only one of the reasons I don’t participate in random beatdowns. It’s also simply not the way a civilized professional behaves.
As far as the other side is concerned. I’m not worried about being a target:
Perhaps some of you recall the scene in Mad Men where Draper offers to take his original hippie girlfriend on an international trip. She responds by saying she would rather not see him anymore.
A fight between cops and squatters is heard intensifying outside. Draper collects his hat.
“You can’t go out there man” her new hippie boyfriends says.
Before placing it on his head, draper points his hat at the boyfriend.
”You can’t go out there” he replies and walks out the door.
