Because many homes with pets also have children.
Unless you specify otherwise, childproof containers are the default for ALL prescriptions.
Just because it’s intended for a dog is no guarantee that a curious toddler won’t swallow a few if they can access the bottle. Most toddlers can’t read.
For the same reason that the sticker on the bottle is written in English and not in Doggish. Humans interact with the bottle….
More proof that children ruin everything.
If you don’t want childproof caps, just tell them so. They put it into your record and , like magic, problem solved
To protect children from opening it.
So you can use it as a clicker too, medicinal & a training aid…sorted
Most of the time, if you don’t like the childproof cap, just remove it, turn it upside down, and screw it back on like a regular cap. Ta-da!
Unfortunately not all caps are like that. With the flat ones there is no option like that. There are only two pharmacies that I know of who have the reversible caps. The vast majority don’t. But I think they should.
But as I said, just ask them for a normal cap and they’re happy to oblige.
Do this only if there aren’t young kids around..)
In my experience, most prescription bottles are just “push down and turn” which is not difficult for most adults.
So that puppies can’t party on their parent’s doggy downer meds.
@jca – it might be difficult in these cases as stated on the site..
Folks with arthritis, or other problems that make gripping difficult or painful, can have a very hard time with Childproof caps. Maybe this can help them.
Oh. Man! And here my pets told me it’s to entertain them with my funny faces when trying to get the damn thing open.
Ha ha..yeah they can be entertained that way..,)
As others have said – childproof is pretty much the default unless requested otherwise.
