[Not Spam] Is Hisense reputable? Are their electronics any good? I have seen more and more of their products in the US and I know nothing about them.

Asked by elbanditoroso (33578points) August 3rd, 2016

I keep seeing their products online and in a few electronics stores – tablets, TVs, computer monitors, I think even cell phones.

I’m used to names like Samsung and Sony and Vizio and that sort of stuff.

Is Hisense more well known outside the US? What is their product quality? Is it risky to buy their stuff? Is it dependable?

It’s all from china, one of the more reputable state-owned companies. They sell products under a bunch of different names. I’d check reviews carefully before buying any big ticket items from them.

I’ve got a couple of their inexpensive pieces (MP3 players/video recorder/tablet) and they seem to be working as well as anything else of the type that I’ve had. The wikipedia link is interesting. I didn’t realize that some Sharp and Whirlpool-branded items could actually be Hisense.

Reminds me of a line from Armageddon “American space technology, Russian space technology… it’s all made in Taiwan”...

If you get something with network connectivity I would expect it to have some malware on it.
