Settings -> General -> Reset (it is all the way at the bottom) -> Erase all Content and Settings
If you have a computer with iTunes on it you can plug the phone in and Reinstall iOS if you are paranoid.

I’m a huge fan of microfiber cloths.
I use the fuzzy kind. They pull off dirt and grease with minimal effort without any risk of scratching.
I machine wash them, without the use of fabric softener. Softener will spread to the surface and make streaks.
…Ohh,wiping the inside.
But you wouldn’t want to deliver a dirty device anyway, right?
^Yes, I want it clean inside and out. Thanks!
^ Good.
I know how to wipe the inside too.
@johnpowell ‘s instructions are spot on.
If you are selling it on then you also need to make sure that you log it out of the iCloud so that they can login. I didn’t look at JPs link but I read that this is a separate setting to Reset.
I found an article
That link is just a ad for companies to charge for a unneeded service. All you have to do is log out of iCloud on the device. Which what I said above will do.
From Apple:
“Before giving away or selling your iOS device, be sure to erase your content and settings (in Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings). When you erase your content, Find My iPhone and Activation Lock are also turned off.”
