Why do I like Nick Cage?(details .)
Anyone a fan? I like him, but he’s only been in three movies I liked. The Rock,Gone in 60 seconds, and Raising Arizona.
Everything else seems fricking terrible.
Is he a witch? Why do I give him more leeway to make bad movies than other actors?
Is something wrong with me?
(Just sick of talking about Trump…..)

Nicholas Cage and John Travolta make an insane number of bad movies, yet somehow keep making more.
For Cage, the only movies of his I can take are Wild At Heart and 8mm, though just barely. He is also remarkably good for the 5 seconds he was in Batman v Superman: The Dawn Of Justice.
His movies are terrible (most of them). But it’s clever marketing from hollywood that is basically conditioning you to like his movies.
I’ve only like two of his movies ConAir and Gone in 60 Seconds. Everything else was awful.
Yeah @filmfann.Spoiler alert next time please. And I forgot about Face Off. That movie I liked.
I was searching through Netflix when I realized how many movies I hate with Cage. That’s why I even asked the question.
He’s obviously a flawed, imperfect, man. He flaunts his imperfections rather than hide them.
I think different imperfections appeal to different people, in different ways.
I thought Ghost Rider was going to be AWESOME. God I was wrong…..
I liked Con Air and The Rock. But not much else. And as much as I liked the two National Treasure movies, he was the only bad part of both of them.
@MrGrimm888 There was no spolier in @filmfann‘s answer.
They both tend to act in a very similar way which is probably why Face/Off worked so well. They’re kind of ever so slightly over the top, exaggerating the character they’re playing. Sometimes it works for the part and sometimes it doesn’t. But when it works it really works.
@zenvelo. I haven’t seen Batman vs Superman. So I didn’t know cage was in it. Even if it was just a cameo. So, yeah. It was a spoiler.
But don’t worry. I’ll manage.
GA @Lightlyseared.
The only film I liked him in was ‘Kick Ass”.
Because his bad acting is so wonderfully over-the-top.
Like Arnold’s awkwardness and austrian accent.
I liked him in “Adaptation”
I liked him him in Guarding Tess. And City of Angels.
Yeah. Those 2 were fun. I miss Meg Ryan.
What do you mean you miss her? Where’d she go?
I don’t think she’s made any movies for several years. Am I wrong?
I think he’s intrinsically likable unless/until you can’t get over hating him for too many of the films he’s been in, or something.
He has donated a fair amount of money to charities. That’s a reason to like Cage.
I like him because he’s nobody’s pretty boy, and apparently took Morgan Freeman’s advice on taking any role offered him.
No doubt. Cage is a movie whore. If you’re paying, he’s acting.
As a movie whore, Nick’s very eager to please.
That, in and of itself, is appealing.
That fact that he so obviously wants you to like him, makes you like him. Even begrudgingly. Even in a crap movie.
I keep thinking about The Wicker Man… When he’s good, he’s very good. When he’s bad, he’s horrid.
Spoiler alert. The Wicker Man is fucked up.
The Wicker Man remake had bigger problems than Cage. Primarily being remade by people who’d seen the original but completely failed to appreciate what it was about.
That was one crazy movie. Kind of like a long Outer Limits episode.
^ Indeed it was… all I could think was wtf?
Nick has to be more discerning in his movie choices. I quite like him though.

I recently saw Pig, and was amazed at how restrained he was. Not a great movie, but not made worse by casting Cage.
I am looking forward to his next movie: The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent, in which he plays… himself.
Btw, I misidentified him in Batman v. Superman. That was someone else.
I also forgot how funny he was in the Grindhouse trailer for Werewolf Women Of The S.S.
