my brother just got a 3g and it keeps saying “incorrect password” for voicemail. He never had a password for his old voicemail so we are confused. We have tried his phone number, and most others I could think of. Does anyone know what it is by default from apple? Thanks a ton!

Go to settings, go to phone, go to change voicemail password.
If you need to enter the old password then you might have to reset all settings (from the general menu), or restore the phone using itunes.
Somebody from this thread wrote, “I called 611 for ATT help, then followed the cues to reset my voicemail password. It sends you a text message with the new password. Voila, the voicemail button magically works now. Hope this saves someone else the frustration.”
With most services the defualt voicemail password is the last 4 digits of the phone number. Try that, and if it doesn’t work use lefteh’s answer.
The voicemail password has nothing to do with the iPhone- it’s whatever the voicemail password is on the account. If you’ve never changed it, it might be the last 4 digits of the phone number, or the last 4 of your social security number. Just all ATT and ask if those don’t work.
Thanks everyone. Great help.
Was your brother able to fix the problem?
