Whats a good app for playing chess?
My friend moved away, haven’t seen him in years, but we talk about how we used to play chess. Is there a way we can play through phone?

The Google store has an android chess app and its free.
Chess.com is a fantastic site that offers unlimited free play via the website or via Apple/Android/Windows phone apps.
Sure you can play by phone. You just have to know the notations for the particular squares on the board as well as the letters for the pieces. It’s actually a lot simpler than my explanation sounds. And you can google “chess notations” to quickly understand. Then you & your friend can simply text one another your moves.

Chess by mail used to be a thing. Wait, Google tells me it still is a thing. You mail a move to your opponent and wait for their response to arrive in your mailbox.
It’s a charming reminder of how people communicated in days of yore.
And I find chess over the Internet charming, too. The ability to play a game with people around the world is beautiful.
