How do you pronounce "meme?"?
I’ve always said, “meem.” A gal on TV called it “me me.”
So, what is the answer to this mighty meme mystery?

This, along with my experience on Youtube, tellse you’re right.
You are right, @Dutchess_III. Don’t believe everything on television. Its accuracy is only a half step above the Internet.
It’s pronounced “meem,” and a lot of people online actually make fun of people who pronounce it “me-me.” So many people make fun of it, though, that some people have taken to pronouncing it “me-me” ironically. So if the gal on TV was younger, it’s possible she was pronouncing it incorrectly on purpose.
I’ve always said meem. The bigger question is, how do you say GIF?
@Espiritus_Corvus With hard g, like “Gift,” or a soft g like, “Gyp”? I hear a hard G in my mind.
Like the peanut butter, choosy mothers choose “jiff”.
Funny! Especially since it isn’t even an actual word. I guess I go with the hard G because it stands for “Graphics.”
Here is how the inventor says .gif should be pronounced.
Can people just make up their own rules of pronunciation? Well, I guess so. Plenty of people give their kids names that phonetics rules say should be pronounced one way, but they pronounce it another. It’s their kid so….
I used to read it as /meme/, but it turns out it’s /mi:m/.
