I am heartbroken and my eyes have been leaking as I have watched some clips of him. However, he had Alzheimers and I am glad he passed on before it got bad. I loved his work and he seemed like a wonderful person.
RIP, those blue eyes closed for ever.
“As they say in Corsica…..
Goodbye.”
I beat you to the question on Social over an hour ago but a talent as big as Mr. Wilder’s deserves as many tributes as we can offer.
What a great man. I’ll never forget him in Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Nobody could play that part like him. Johnny Depp was a creepy misrepresentation of that character. He could never capture the warmth Gene had.
I feel like no matter the role, you could tell Gene was just a great person. He couldn’t hide it.
The world is a better place for having him. And a worse place without him.
RIP
Aw, man. This is the first I heard. He was great. I got through my twenties watching his comedy in films like The Producers, Young Frankenstein and Blazing Saddles. Those were days without a lot of laughter for me. He cracked me up and made it easier to get through. I loved that guy. Goodbye, Gene. And thanks.
“Walk this way…”
The Producers is one of the funniest movies ever.
He had so many great movies, from Blazing Saddles to Young Frankenstein to Bonnie and Clyde to Silver Streak. His scenes in Everything You Always Wanted To Know About Sex (but were afraid to ask) leave me helpless with laughter.
Vaya con Dios, and say hello to Gilda.
yeah, and Radner. What a team.
