Where did Nagini come from?

I’ve always wondered. I don’t think it mentions it in the books. Although I could be wrong. How did Voldemort obtain her?

He found her in the forest in Albania, I think.

I don’t know if there is a story of her origin, only her significance to him. I would say that Nagini is the closest thing Voldy had to a loved one.

Wikipedia has no information of her pre-Voldy history.

It’s not mentioned in the books and the HP Lexicon doesn’t have anything about it, either, which means JRo hasn’t said anything about it in interviews or anything.
