Can it be possible that 2 women with different nationalities Look alike and why?

Asked by cecilia09 (205points) September 3rd, 2016

So, I have this good friend whose wife and I look so much alike, she is Slovakian and, my nationality is Latina, and it is so crazy how we have physical similarities especially in the face, The funny thing is that he and I had a long distance relationship in the past before he met her. I wonder if she reminds him of me, she is very beautiful and I have to admit that I would love to have her same hair, which is gorgeous and almost butt length, What can I do to look more like her since I do admire her beauty and personality.

Of course people from different nationalities can look like each other. Everyone has a double or 3 out there. It’s a big world and genetics are highly diverse. Don’t try to look more like this women, that shows a massive amount of lack of confidence in yourself.

Be yourself and do not, ever, try to be like another. That is a recipe for grave unhappiness. Your physical looks are your physical looks and you can find your own special style and look. Your personality can be enhanced, bettering your social skills, sense of humor, working to remove jealously, envy and other negative and self defeating emotions, but, if you deliberately try to mimic another you are nothing more than a copycat.

Be an original, and embrace your originality.
What would you rather be, an original artwork or a sloppy copy?

Of course.

Here’s a picture of Barak Obama and a man from Senegal. Check out their teeth. Amazing.

Here the woman on the left is from India and the woman on the right is from Mexico and Latina ancestry.

About two years after our divorce, my wife took a boyfriend was a carbon copy of me, only twenty years earlier. We are good friends and I took it as a compliment and wished her all the happiness. The important is that he was a nice guy and would always have her best interests at heart.

Nationality is a social construct (even though I feel quite pretentious when I say it) and genetics are kinda random. There are a lot of people out there, it is very possible to end up similar to someone else you are not related with.

As for her behaviour and looking like her, @Coloma is pretty much right. My add is that there is nothing wrong in being inspired with and admiring someone, but there is no need to turn into that person. Be yourself. If you admire her beauty and personality, it’s great, but instead of imitating her, try to be beautiful and great in your own way.

Think of it as if you are making a work of art. She made a great painting. If you make the same thing, it’s plagiarism. But if you look up to her and try to make your own painting that is inspired by her style, then we have another great work. (Soon enough, when you gain enough experience and skill, you will make your own works, independent of anyone, which is another step in being a great master.)

Hope I helped. Peace!

Obviously it is possible because that’s the case you’re describing. Ethnicity is only one factor in appearance.

Looks like man from Senegal has modelled himself on the looks of Barack Obama.

@Coloma Yeah I don’t mean to copycat her, but I am more interested in knowing what hair products she uses cause I love her hair, it is really beautiful, I just look up to her and like the way she puts her makeup and dresses, and I want to adopt the style because I identify with it.

I guess you both are his type. My husband always picks out women who are similar to me. I’m glad. I’m glad I’m still the type he finds attractive. I generally pick out men that have similar outward features to him.

If you want thicker, longer, hair, get extensions. It’s fantastic. Or, you can get a fall that you can take in and out.

I had extensions for 6 months and I want to do them again. I don’t want my hair butt length, but I loved having more hair. I was able to style my hair much faster. I didn’t need any hair products like mousses or gels, which I have to use usually. The biggest negative was I couldn’t do a regular ponytail, it had to be low. Another negative is it’s expensive.

My husband doesn’t like when I have extensions.

I forgot to address you two looking alike, but different nationalities. Where is your family from? Are they actually from the Iberian Peninsula? Or, some other part of Europe? Or, are your ancestors native to the Americas? Saying Latina doesn’t really tell the story anymore. Most people in the Americas are a mix. If you live in USA, we now call anyone from Latin America Hispanic and/or Latina. A German – Chilean man is termed Hispanic. He’s German, most likely with German features (although that’s not exactly something that can be pinpointed either).

Even The Indians in Latin America sometimes look very Asian or Polynesian, which isn’t surprising since the continents used to be connected.

Yes. Nationality has nothing to do with genetics.

I assume part of you must be European. Genetic variation between Europeans is relatively small.

Nationality ≠ Ethnicity

@JLeslie Its no a copycat situation but more of admiration, I would love to have her long blonde hair, so I am letting my hair grow, plus I love her makeup and her style, Cause to be honest I look like her somehow, I have this air of resemblance with her.

JLeslie's avatar

^^Did you mean to address me? I didn’t call you a copycat.

cecilia09's avatar

@JLeslie I know you did not ,hehe, but since some mentioned the word, I decided to make it clear that it was admiration what i felt. its like fangirling .

JLeslie's avatar

So what if you copy her hair. I wouldn’t give it a second thought. If you copied everything down to her clothes, shoes, and house, then I’d be wondering about you.

cecilia09's avatar

@JLeslie jejeje you are right, that would more of an obsession LOL, But seriously speaking its more admiration than anything.
