My Google Images are now linked to products for sale. Can I change that somehow?

I used to love Google Images. Now I loath it.
Have I done something that caused this, or is there something I can do to reverse it?
Consider that I’m computer illiterate, please. Baby steps.

When I search for “Google Images” I see, along the top, a “more” dropdown. When I click on “more” one of the choices is “shopping.” Try to go there and see if you can unclick “shopping.”
@ibstubro I use “startpage” search engine which doesn’t bring up a bunch of stuff I did not search for. It is very private. I find Google “controlling”.
Can you do a screenshot? Or give us an example of what you were looking for? I had a look at Google images and general settings but couldn’t see anything that referred to it. Not to say that Google wouldn’t just go ahead and do something like that!
I was wondering if it was to do with what you are looking for. For example, I am looking for a filter paper that will fit a coffee machine. I got lots of shopping sites for that. But when I looked for Union Jack flag, there were fewer shopping sites and more sites with information on flags.
Sounds like your browser has been hijacked. I would strongly recommend running some anti malware scans.
Oh look – I found this article
Are you using a smartphone? I don’t get this on my PC.
Are you logged into Google? Just a thought…
Ah, that might be it, @Stinley.
I’ll now see if there are options to make it stop.
