Is it normal for a convenience store clerk not to sell energy drinks to under 14 years old kids?
That was the policy where I worked , at the time.

It is not a company policy BUT a law in many jurisdictions.
Just like selling cigarettes or alcohol.
The age differs by state or province.
Sounds like a good idea to me. I’ve seen 11-year-olds who think Monster or Red Bull are fun/funny ideas and want to try them, and I remember being a kid whose parents prohibited candy so they went candy nuts disobeying and they would have gone for those big time. Combine with the effect even sugar has on some kids, bouncing off the walls after eating some cookies, and it just seems like in general a good idea to not be selling sugar/caffeine bombs to kids. Not as a punishable law or thing to be a jerk about, but just as a good general idea.
Yeah, that’s a pretty common thing. It’s not just about kids getting hyper from them, those those things can actually have some serious cardiac effects, especially when excessively consumed, even in adults and moreso in developing bodies.
