What kind of cool earrings do I get for a 13 year old girl?

Asked by Dutchess_III (47069points) September 12th, 2016

My oldest grand daughter will be 13 on Friday. She’s had her ears pierced since she was 2. Mom gave the go-ahead for her to get an upper ear piercing for her birthday. I want to get a cool set of stud earrings for her, but have no idea what.

She’s kind of into the 70’s, because her dad is a music man and mostly sings 70’s songs.

She’s cool and groovy and beautiful.

Any ideas?

Peace symbol? Doesn’t have to be that particular pair, I’m just using the link for the photo.

Birthstone studs.

Birth stones. Or a whole set of stones representing all of the months and their different colors.

This one is super cool for a helix piercing. And it’s surgical steel.

An outing with her, and a gift card to cover what she chooses while you too are on your excursion.

Search on Etsy you can find all sorts of very cool earrings/studs.

Going with @canidmajor on this. Letting her pick her own is best by that age.

Definitely stick with surgical stainless or Titanium. Since you’re dealing with a fresh piercing, you want to be certain to use only non-reactive materials.

If you know her favorite color, Titanium comes in some really stunning metallic sheen colors.

The purples and pinks are particularly eye catching.

Something that stresses purity and virginity? Oh yeah, and in titanium.

If it was me, I’d take her shopping and let her choose a pair of earrings. I think that would be a great day out for her, and let her pick some earrings she likes. It will make her feel very grown up (which is always lovely when you’re 13).

Yes, take her shopping, rather than a gift card as you can have a good look around and not be stuck buying from one shop. Unless she’s not nearby and you have to send her the birthday present of course.

Those are some awesome ideas you guys! Thank you so much!

@rojo No kidding…..

I tell my daughter (and granddaughter now) to just buy something I would like that way when they lose one I can have and wear the one that is left. I also mention that I am partial to gold.

I second the gift card. Always a good idea if you’re stuck on gift ideas.

How about something like this (NSFW)
