Can the electronic product be affected by a leaked (but only on the side nowhere near the top and bottom) battery that has been taped over and been used for a while?

If I discovered a leaking battery anywhere, it would go straight into the trash.

Batteries cost so little why take unnecessary chances with one that leaks. Makes no sense to me at all.

given that the stuff is quite corrosive (being acid and all), i would say yes.

Electronic products can be damaged by leaking batteries. Toss them if you find any in use.

The battery is thrown out. The electronic product found after a years in storage is working, (with new batteries) and no leak on it because the tape kept the leak in.
