That isn’t playing God; that is being narcissistic asshole.
Those who hurt others with no reason at all are, imo, bullies. You may as well call them sadists, if they find joy in that.
The only situation where one can be justified when hurting someone is in defense. Attacking someone unprovoked just because you don’t like them for some reason is not “playing god”: it’s being a dipshit.
Such statements as the one you wrote are bred in an uncivilized, self-centered, twisted minds. People like that don’t deserve to be given attention.
Welcome to Fluther.
Insecure, immature and closed minded people fear not being agreed with. They see anothers disagreement as a direct assault on their ego, self worth. To tell these types you don’t agree with their beliefs is tantamount to attacking their personal worth/value. Killing someone for not agreeing with you is, indeed, highly narcissistic as @zenvelo says.
since god sends people to eternal torment for simply not believing in him, yes, that is an accurate comparison.
Yes. Now I feel like a jerk for trying to win my friends back in university.
I can’t fault you for your question as millions who came before us and those who continue to perpetuate absolutes they believe as sacred actions to serve their self perceived Gods. Sharia law, factions of Catholicism and other religions do promote the condemnation of those who do not subscribe to their absolutes and in some cases terminate their lives. Hard for many to fathom in this modern day and age but to those that are consumed by these doctrines, we have to try and wrap our heads around as to why people/humans will resort to such extremes to further their warped beliefs.
