Baseball fans: Would Cubs versus Indians in the World Series be a good one?

Asked by elbanditoroso (33550points) October 3rd, 2016

It’s been an amazing baseball year for both the Indians and the Cubs.

Although unlikely to occur, what would you think of the Chicago versus Cleveland in the World Series?

Who would win?

The odds would be in favor of the Cubbies as the Cubs lost 29% of their home games and 42% of their away games. The Indians lost 34% of their home games and 48% of their away games. The Cubs are the only Chicago franchise I root for that has not won a championship in my lifetime. This year I will finally get to pin up that pennant in my man cave!

@Cruiser Dream on. After the Giants wade through the National League detritus, they will mop Cleveland up with an orange dish towel.

Hahahaha… 103 wins is detritus? Vs. the Giants’ 87? Hahahaha… in the NL West, no less.

@zenvelo – let’s discuss again in 10 days

Nice try, @zenvelo!

Smart money’s on the Cubs. The team’s staff, bullpen, and defense held opposing hitters to an astounding .209 batting average. Yes, when facing the Cubs this year, other teams were flirting with the Medoza Line. Can anyone stop the freight train that’s the 2016 Cubs?

My own call – Cubs v. Red Sox, with the Cubs winning and the Sox, along with all of us obsessive fans, not minding a bit.

I’d really enjoy it, especially if the Cubs won.

However, it’s been 68 years since the last time the Tribe won the Fall Classic, so I’d also be happy if they won. I wouldn’t mind seeing Cleveland becoming the City of Champions (Cavs & Indians).

Unfortunately, I won’t be surprised if the dudes wearing the Halloween colors win it all. Even though they only had 88 wins in 2014, and the Dodgers won the division by 6 games, the 415 Hive went on to win it all. It could be another World Series championship for the previously sleeping Giants, if they have fully awakened from their regular-season slumber.

^^^ I’m a huge fan of Terry Francona. I’d shed no tears if Cleveland wins.

When you wrote about “the dudes wearing the Halloween colors,” I thought you meant Baltimore.

Red Sox – Cubs. Big Papi, David Ortiz in his final year battling Theo, Jed, Jon, and all the former Sox…. add Joe Maddon, the ultimate Sox hater, and you’ve got the ingredients for an epic World Series.

@Love_my_doggie Thanks for reminding me.

I forgot that the Orioles also wear black & orange, and they are in the AL divisional series. Seeing teams wearing Halloween colors in October, gives me a seasonally festive feeling about the MLB playoffs.

I tip my (baseball) cap to @elbanditoroso, who made a fearless prediction early and got it right. Great job!

This has all the makings of a great World Series, and I’m counting the hours until Tuesday. Even though I like Tito, I’ll be cheering all-out for the Cubs. So will most of the country.

@Love_my_doggie – I’m an Indians fan and have been for 60+ years. I’m for the Tribe.

Indians in 6.

^^^ There’s so much to love about Cleveland, which has blossomed into a truly elite team. I didn’t even get upset when the Indians trounced my beloved Red Sox; heck, there are plenty of former Sox on the Tribe.

The Indians are perceived as the underdogs of this series, but they’re not in the least. It’s going to be a fun week. Good luck!

Cubs. And I don’t care how many games, as long as we can visit Grandpa’s grave and tell him they finally went all the way.

I’m still rooting for the Chicago Detritus.
