Do you look at the "....minutes ago" just below the title of the question before you answer?

In order to wait for any editing, do you look at how long ago (if it’s over 5 minutes if that’s correct period of time) the OP was posted? I haven’t been but I will, otherwise it could be a wasted time.

I did this time.

No. I assume most people are smart enough to wait until the question says what they’d like to ask before hitting “submit”.

The edit window is there to correct simple typos, not to allow complete rewrites of questions.

If you have a regular problem of having questions answered while you’re editing, I’d suggest perhaps practicing your question on paper before entering it on the website.

I understand it’s frustrating to have answers that don’t match your questions, but it’s even more frustrating to spend your time answering a question only to find the question has been changed – sometimes dramatically – by the time you’re done typing.

Only the asker has the power to remedy this situation.

If I glance at the time the question was posted, it’s more to see how much interest there seems to be in the question, based on the time and the number of posted answers so far.

No, neither do I look who asked or much else really, I read the details though, unless it resembles a biblical chapter.

Thanks all.

By the way how long is the editing period for answers? Where’s this kind of info? I tried to find it in Guidelines and Important Rules
