What is the best way for me to get my music "out there" for people to listen to and give feedback?

Asked by Jiboo420 (45points) October 13th, 2016 from iPhone

I’ve just started making electronic music on the computer, and I want people to give me feedback on what I need to work on. If you have any suggestions for me please let me know.

Also, if you are interested, my SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/johnnie-prg/

If you want to get hundreds of thousands or millions of listens, my suggestion is to video game and popular movie covers and make YouTube videos out of them. You can link to your soundcloud site in the video description. You can take advantage of interest in blockbuster films with large followings like Harry Potter and Frozen by doing covers of their theme music. Likewise, there’s an entire genre of video game music which is extremely popular on YouTube.

Ah… SoundCloud was going to be my first suggestion, but aside from that… Posting links to stuff you’ve uploaded is a good way to drive traffic to your uploads.

I’d suggest starting a YouTube channel as well. Sharing links to your youtube uploads on facebook isn’t a bad plan either. I’d suggest starting a page for your music and posting the links through there. Then you can follow up by harassing friends and family to like the page and share songs that they like.

Other suggestions include last.fm, bandcamp, blip.fm, and thesixtyone.

@SmashTheState has the best way. Don’t present it as your music but add a link to the “music by” and you’ll get people who actually like it to connect.

If you are using a paticular software program they surely have a forum to post to. That would give you good technical advice. I would do that as well as mass-public forums like YouTube.

I’d definitely go with Youtube. As much as I hate to use him as an example, Beiber was discovered on Youtube.
The most common method of Youtubing oneself singing is by covering popular songs or soundtracks.

MuseScore is another resource. It’s a good way to connect with a community of music composers, arrangers, transcriptionists, students and other knowledgeable types. It’s also a good way to get the music on paper.
