How many Hillary and Donald masks do you expect to see on your doorstep on All Hallows' Eve?

Asked by Jeruba (56106points) October 16th, 2016

In election years in the U.S. (and even in some off years), a weird custom seems to have developed over the past two or three decades. It’s not unusual to see kids on Halloween wearing masks representing the faces of major political figures.

Take a guess at how many trick-or-treaters you expect to greet on the 31st, just a week before the election. How many of them do you think will be wearing masks of the two leading candidates for president?

(I’m sure there’ll be some Obama masks too, but I’m not asking about them.)

My neighborhood is full of little girls, I’m guessing there will be 0 political figures and a bunch of Disney princesses.

Nobody trick-or-treats in my neighborhood. We’ll take Ian to a more friendly area for beggar’s night.

He wants to be the Grim Reaper, so I’m going to scrap my plans for a Glow Cloud cosplay from Welcome to Night Vale and be, probably, a disembodied soul in chains.

I hope zero. It’s a night of old-fashioned neighborliness and I look forward to any respite from the election.

I expect a lot of Donalds.
Scary clowns have become very popular.

My husband just asked the exact same question yesterday.

I won’t see many, because I live in a 55 and up community, so no children here, except when they visit. I guess if I venture into one of the town squares people will be dressed up. It’s much more Trump leaning here, so I guess that means there will be more Hillary masks? Is that how it works? People dress as the candidate they don’t like?

If you are asking about the entire US, I think there will be many many more Trump masks than Hillary. I expect to see photos all over Facebook of Halloween Trumps.

Zero, exactly zero. We don’t even bother turning on our porch light anymore because no one trick-or-treats around here.

We usually have a decent turn out. This new neighborhood appears to go all out. Most people have their yards all halloweened up. We are expecting quite a turn out and I’m sure the donald and the Hilldabeast will show up in full force.
