What is the significance of Trump saying that he may not accept the result of the election if he loses?

I asked this same question on Facebook. Got answers like, “Revolution,” “Anarchy.” I think they’re making it in to something it isn’t. Didn’t Gore demand a recount in Florida? Obviously he didn’t accept the result of the election.
We have an incomplete Supreme Court. There’s no telling what kind of hell can be raised without a swing vote on the bench.
He didn’t say “if he loses.” He just said he’d say when the time comes. It’s clear to me that he would not be crying “rigged” if he expected to win. So I think the significance is that he’s anticipating losing.
In my opinion. I significance. When he said it I felt it was like when he said he wouldn’t promise to support the republican who won the primary if it wasn’t him. He doesn’t want to have to renig on something he said. Not that I think the guy never lies, but that’s how I perceived it anyway. I think the media should stop asking such questions. It’s not helping.
I immediately said to my husband when Trump said it, that the republicans will argue back reciting Gore asking for a recount. I was right. It’s so obvious. Plus, think about how the democrats have been talking about problems at the polls for years now. They can just throw that back in our faces.
I hate this election. I hate most elections now in the US. They are so mean and horrible. The worst part is how awful so many people, not politicians, are on social media, and even in person with their friends. WTH?
@JLeslie I completely agree with you. This election saddens me. We’re capable of so much better.
