Is war inevitable? (Details )

Asked by MrGrimm888 (19540points) October 27th, 2016

You can take your pick of places in the world where war might break out.

Will there ever be a world without war?

Is it human nature to eventually have war?

Is this an unavoidable consequence of there being a certain amount of us?

In essence, yes, wars are a mistake & as we all know, nobody’s perfect, mistakes are inevitable.

The days of conflicts on the scale of our 2 world wars may be behind us, but as the world’s population continues to climb, frictions and disputes escalate predictably, insuring a world of pepetual conflict and open warfare somewhere on its surface.

It’s diplomacy by force.

Actually, what it is is definitely “not the answer.” I mean, a bumpersticker clearly stated so.

THAT’S the truly productive question:

What is war not?

A world war? Hardly. Smaller, local-type wars? Totally.

There has not been a war between major powers since the end of the Korean War. In the short term, that should continue. What happens in the long term is harder to predict. Global warming and resource depletion can change things.

In poorer nations, I don’t see war disappearing.
