How do I get a job with a think tank?

Any specialisation. Preferably close to Alberta.

There are no shortcuts. You need to demonstrate an advanced education coupled with creative thinking.

Get a Doctorate, and with your dissertation demonstrate an ability to think creatively.

You can probably just go in and ask for one. That should work.

You don’t. They pick people who fit the expertise they need.

It’s one of those situations of: “Don’t call us. We will call you.”

And, as mentioned previously, with nothing higher than a HS diploma and no discernible area of specialized expertise, I wouldn’t be holding my breath waiting if I were you.

Eventually, you are going to have to start somewhere with something before you get anywhere.

You need to think outside of the box.

So here’s some outside-of-the-box thinking for you: Don’t expect to “get a job” with a think tank; start your own think tank.

Likely because he’s under the impression that it’s a lucrative job but pretty easy with not much prior preparation or real effort involved. Just a guess based upon the pattern of a lot of previous Qs he’s asked.
