What do you do alone that you find totally satisfying?

Asked by janbb (63219points) November 3rd, 2016

And I do not mean masturbation! Just finished a painting and realized how much pleasure I am getting from the act of painting – and the results when I am happy with what I did. Since I mainly getting pleasure from being with friends, it gives me satisfaction when I enjoy a solitary activity.

What do you enjoy doing on your own?

I always enjoyed sailing alone, probably even more than when I had a friend to share it with.

Running, no music, no company, just me & my drive to stay as fit as a butcher’s dog.

Play my guitar REALLY loud is tops, then gardening or taking nature pictures, reading in the bathtub and like you @janbb I love my art/pottery and nothing is more satisfying when the outcome exceeds your expectations.

Most stuff, actually. The list is much shorter for the things I prefer doing with people.

@canidmajor Yeah – but you do have those doggie companions. :-)

I love to sing, but I don’t feel like I’m any good at it. I am very self-conscious about my singing voice, so I never sing around people.

When the house is empty and I’m all alone, though, all bets are off.

Unfortunately, that’s not very often.

Yes, I love living alone and I love decorating my home, finding fun, artsy, colorful things and puttering around arranging things to my liking. I also enjoy reading and love just sitting quietly in nature. I live on a rural property and have lived rural for decades now. 25 years last month in Oct.

I also enjoy gardening, cooking, and of course, Fluthering. I am an extrovert by nature and love chatting and joking around with people but I also highly value my alone time and call myself an extroverted hermit. I also like going to the movies by myself, no issue with that whatsoever and playing with my cats. I was married for 22 years and raised my daughter and I have cherished my aloneness for 14 years now. haha

Other than reading and sleeping, I love doing those things with other people as well. I enjoy them equally as a solo or group activity.

Well…...when you look at it that way…...er…absolutely nothing.

Well, for me it is reading, of course.

I also enjoy making information leaflets. I can spend a lot of time at work on these. Luckily it’s part of my job.

My only sibling was born when I was 19 and my only child was born when I was 41, so I’ve lived most of my life as a loner.

I like to be alone, be home alone, drive alone, go to the movies alone, shop alone, read in book stores alone, sit in coffee shops alone, watch TV alone, do crafts alone, be at work alone, the list goes on and on. I do like to be with people but I really value my alone time. If I get lonely, I go to dinner with friends or text or pm them. I don’t use the phone much, now with pm’ing and texting.

@jca ^^ As long as you’re not drinking and driving ; )

All my life I’ve believed that the things that interested me the least were what I needed to know the most, so, nothing.
An informed and intelligent perspective is always welcome.

Reading, knitting/crocheting, cleaning, meditating, driving, cooking. Well, since I live by myself, I pretty much enjoying doing everything around the house by myself, I think I enjoy the solitude.
