Does trust fall into the same category as respect?

Can you respect someone, but not trust them?

There are of course levels of trust.

I love and respect my father. I trust that he won’t poison me. But I wouldn’t trust him with my car. He’d surely wreck it, or at least dent it.

They are different things, but if you can’t trust somebody you certainly can’t respect them. At the same time, you can trust someone but not necessarily respect them.
