Why do people discriminate based on color?

Asked by imrainmaker (8380points) November 10th, 2016

When did this notion might have started that everything which is fair is good and vice versa?

Because a white man has to compensate for his small dick.

I dare anyone giving me any logical and rational reason on why would anyone hate based on skin colour.

I am not justifying or excusing it, just an explanation.

When defining the “other”, a different skin tone is easily distinguishable without any thought.

I think Kipling said it best:

ake up the White Man’s burden, Send forth the best ye breed
Go bind your sons to exile, to serve your captives’ need;
To wait in heavy harness, On fluttered folk and wild—
Your new-caught, sullen peoples, Half-devil and half-child.

Take up the White Man’s burden, In patience to abide,
To veil the threat of terror And check the show of pride;
By open speech and simple, An hundred times made plain
To seek another’s profit, And work another’s gain.

Take up the White Man’s burden, The savage wars of peace—
Fill full the mouth of Famine And bid the sickness cease;
And when your goal is nearest The end for others sought,
Watch sloth and heathen Folly Bring all your hopes to nought.

Take up the White Man’s burden, No tawdry rule of kings,
But toil of serf and sweeper, The tale of common things.
The ports ye shall not enter, The roads ye shall not tread,
Go make them with your living, And mark them with your dead.

Take up the White Man’s burden And reap his old reward:
The blame of those ye better, The hate of those ye guard—
The cry of hosts ye humour (Ah, slowly!) toward the light:—
“Why brought he us from bondage, Our loved Egyptian night?”

Take up the White Man’s burden, Ye dare not stoop to less—
Nor call too loud on Freedom To cloak your weariness;
By all ye cry or whisper, By all ye leave or do,
The silent, sullen peoples Shall weigh your gods and you.

Take up the White Man’s burden, Have done with childish days—
The lightly proffered laurel, The easy, ungrudged praise.
Comes now, to search your manhood, through all the thankless years
Cold, edged with dear-bought wisdom, The judgment of your peers!

Imperialism, the noble enterprise of civilization.

I don’t.

I discriminate based on behavior.

If you believe you see some coincidence between “color” and behavior that’s your issue.

I think if everyone in the world had to walk in someone else’s
shoes that was a different color from his/her original born color
we wouldn’t have a race issue and would be living in PEACE.

Ancient perception that got carried away to our nowadays era. In the past, it’s common knowledge to assume that the color of a person (among other anatomical features) correlate to his/her race. I don’t hate the idea of distinguishing people through skin color, while not really accurate it will at least make it easier to recognize/categorize people with distinct genealogy.

Poem By An African Kid Was Nominated For The “best Poem,2005”... “When I born, I BLACK.
When I grow up, BLACK.
When I go & sun, I BLACK.
When I cold, I BLACK.
When I scared, I BLACK.
When I sick, I BLACK.
When I die, I still BLACK.

You white fellow,
When you born, you PINK.
When you grow up, you WHITE.
When you go & sun, you RED.
When you cold, you BLUE.
When you scared, you YELLOW.
When you sick, you GREEN.
When you die, you GRAY…

And you are calling me ‘COLOURED’...!!!”

I am mixed both black and white. I have seen and experienced both sides of the coin. Because of those experiences, I don’t look at people as having different color skin, or being different from me; I look at them as the individual that they are. If I allowed biased opinions to blur my mind and eyes, I couldn’t proudly say that I am me.

Probably because, for good or bad, rational or irrational, they associate it with behaviors they don’t like.
Sort of like how some people don’t like dogs, even friendly ones, probably because they associate aggressive behaviors with all dogs.
I could be wrong, but I think that’s it.

^Blacks were hated way before rap came along.

^ Urban “music” certainly hasn’t helped matters.
