Which would you prefer…an afternoon picnic with your S/O or a 4 star dinner. Whatever excites you the most, describe the reason of your choice, the atmosphere and of course what will be served.

I want a picnic near a lake. On a beautiful spring day with fun fluffy clouds to look at and a gentle breeze blowing. I want cheese slices, grapes, and sandwiches with the crust cut off. Perhaps a good white wine. Something chocolate for desert.
I choose this because it takes planning. A 4 star dinner takes no thought.
A dinner.
I enjoy a picnic, I really do. But I prefer a cooked meal served hot. A picnic is prepared ahead of time, making it little more than dressed up leftovers.
I had a dinner in Barcelona this year that was a fixed menu of incredible dishes, last almost five hours. One of the most exquisite meals of my life. And much more romantic to me.
I hate outdoor eating. Hate the wasps and the bees and the flies.
Do I have to pick? I like both at different times, for different reasons. It’s not an either/or situation.
As much fun as a picnic can be, chef sits on the roof rack & our butler rides up front with the chauffeur, you can’t beat an egg…sorry, you can’t beat fine dining & immaculate service that dinner at home brings…ahhhh, bisto.
Dinner.
Picnics are not much more than a packed lunch. I have one of those most days. Granted I don’t normally eat it on a tartan blanket in a wooded glade but I rarely eat three courses of delicious food that someone else has made for me.
I’ll always pick picnics if they are a choice.
My New Year’s resolution every year (for about 20 years now) is to have more picnics and to have more picnics with friends. No matter the weather, I try to make sure I have at least one picnic every month. Sometimes that means tea and a homemade sandwich in the car watching a blizzard.
I kind of hate restaurant meals. Too much of a work thing. I don’t like having to have style/personality appropriate for fine dining.
Best of all are picnics/outdoor meals with friends where everyone can completely relax.
I enjoy both but yep, I am picnic kinda girl. I live in a beautiful rural area near a lovely mountain river and river picnics are one of my summer favorites. Breads, cheeses, salami, olives galore, grapes, melon, strawberries. Spinach dip and chips and salsa and wine or beer or champagne. I love preparing a blow out picnic lunch. :-)
I like both too, but because picnics are more casual, I’m going to go with picnics. Less pressure, and because I like to cook, I enjoy making food for picnics: potato salad or pasta salad or bean salad, fancy sandwiches, peanut butter cookies, homemade potato chips. Yum!
