Solar Flares? My smartphone text messages stopped working for 30 minutes.
At the moment, I’m on a desktop running Windows 7, and I’m not experiencing any glitches. I have given up using my tablet to access this site. Although, someone gave me something to try to fix that, which I’ll give a shot.
It was rooting for Hillary and it is now in a state of shock. ~~
@Tropical_Willie Perhaps my other question is unclear. The only website I have trouble with is Fluther. There is nothing wrong with my browser on absolutely any other website at all. Nothing.
I’m running Firefox on Windows 7, and my Fluther logo is missing and the icons on the line “general social just for you meta” come and go. Or rather, start missing and appear on mouseover (?)... sometimes. I can, however, post.
I’m sorry. In my first answer to this question, I forgot to mention I’m at work, so I’m forced to use IE. I do not know which type of IE.
Update: I restarted Firefox, and now the Fluther logo is back for me.
Oops but now after not doing much, the icons are starting to vanish again.
Also isn’t there usually something in the dark blue/green area to the right of the Fluther logo rather than a plain dark area? And a gradient between the logo image and the rest of the top nav bar?
Also the bottom orange/brown area loses its gradient when I am in Edit Question mode. Oh actually now it seems to be gone even outside edit mode… oh and now it’s back in Edit Question mode.
So ya, something seems WONKY! :-)

I have gotten that for nearly a week. I just assumed it was my aggressive ad blocker or something.
My adblocker is turned off for Fluther.
Mobile is messed up pretty bad. I have to navigate with desktop but can only post when switching back to mobile.
We’re getting lots of reports of problems. It’s all the more puzzling because there’s no consistency to these issues; Fluther’s running fine for me, while others can’t even post (and then, oh wait, they can!).
We’ve been lucky to have a couple of intrepid mods who’ve gone under Fluther’s hood now and then to make various improvements, but the current rash of glitches stemming from the recent server migration won’t be resolved that way. None of us has any idea what’s wrong.
Until Ben or Andrew tackles this, please continue to try various combinations of browsers and platforms to see what works best for you.
Right now this is only affecting me on android.
To be thorough, I would like to add the troubles I am experiencing and the ones I’m not.
First, at work: I am using a desktop running Windows 7 using the Internet Explorer browser. I’m sorry, but I do not know which IE iteration it is. I experience no difficulties with the site on this system.
Next, at home: I am using a Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 running Android 6.0.1 with a Chrome browser. I am unable to enter text in the answer field. There is a work-around solution for this taught to me on another thread. I open Fluther in my browser and go to an answer spot, and then I click open absolutely any other app and type something in that app, and then I return to the browser with Fluther open and type an answer. This works.
Finally, at home: I am using a laptop running Windows 10 with a Chrome browser. I have only a very minor issue to report. The laptop has a touchscreen display, so when I open Fluther, it opens as the mobile site. This is minor, because all I have to do is quickly scroll to the bottom and click “desktop” and that opens it as the desktop version. Scrolling and clicking is very minor. I never think about it.
The way Fluther is behaving on my system (IE 11, Win 7), it looks like some supporting file is missing on your server, like a CSS file maybe?
Yes, it is behaving strangely, and I can’t post a new question.
Adding to the mystery, I cannot compose questions on my laptop other than the initial question and it won’t move on to the description. Cleared cache, restart, run spyware, 3 different browsers, nothing changes. What was interesting is I asked a question off my Ipad and after I did, I was able to edit the question on my laptop.
Thanks all, especially the Mods.
Looks like it’s all good now
I know you all understand, but just want to add to this thread that you cannot expect a single tech change from me for a long time; I am healing up from surgery.
@Mariah Kick back and put your feet up.
Much love Mariah. I can deal with some missing images and sprites. Please heal well.
Thanks guys, knew you’d understand. Y’all are reasonable and super kind folks :) I’m healing up just the best I can!
All I know is if the crafting a response pencil thing vanishes i’m going to kick off proper.
Can not post questions on the normal site. Only works with the mobile version.
I’m really sorry that we are having these problems. I’m not one of the mods who can tinker around with code so feel pretty helpless.
Things that have been suggested :
Ctrl +F5
Clear cache
Use another browser
Use the mobile site i.fluther.com
Jake’s typing hack as above
Switch everything off and back on again
Maybe we need to do that last one to the servers…
I was able this afternoon to ask a question again from my laptop. FWIW @Stinley I tried all of those for the past 3 days and none helped me crack through whatever it. was that was preventing me from asking Q’s from my laptop. I just tried again now and it is letting me through. Not sure if someone behind the curtain fixed or did something to change. Maybe it was Russian hackers.
Let us know if you are having any further problems. A lot of the time the problems are to do with your browsers and settings but if enough people are experiencing problems, then it is more likely to be a central problem. So please do report it. Thanks
^I don’t get it. Please explain to this brit who is not up on all the trump memes….
