Is this just a year of strange and unpredictable occurrences?
2016 has been a weird year. Think of it:
- Cubs won the world series (hasn’t happened in 108 years)
– Indians won the American league (hasn’t happened in a while)
– First female nominated for pres. by a major party
– Trump wins unexpectedly
Are we just at the low end cycle of the cosmic biorhythm cycle?

To quote a meme:
“I’m not saying that David Bowie was holding the fabric of the universe together, but -gestures broadly at everything…
It feels that way to me. I lost my job earlier this year, and 2 weeks ago (the timing seems insane) had to go to the hospital for the first time in 3 years and have surgery for the first time in 5 years. So yeah, even at a personal scale this year has been fucking nuts. Thank god for the things that are stable (my home, my relationship, my new job).
The supermoon. Brightest moon in almost 70 years.
You remind me of this. Just something crazy and fun to read, but could be worth giving some thought for.
Eh, the Cubs and the Indians successes were only unpredictable because people get hung up on the past. Both clubs have had a history of failure, but you can’t judge a current team by the success or failure of previous teams. Anyone who looked at this years’ teams objectively shouldn’t have been too surprised.
Nah, just overdue instances, law of averages & all that shite.
The last 2 were totally expected.
@Darth_Algar One cannot assign mathematical probability logic to things like sports teams. There are factors that do rely on past performance as indicators of future success: team ownership; team facilities, team fan base, team schedule, and players and coaches who have been associated with the team for years.
I will not quibble or debate the factors that led to the Cubs and Indians success this year. I only argue with your statement, ”...only unpredictable because people get hung up on the past.
@zenvelo
Indeed, and the Cubs have fairly new (within the past few years) ownership that are willing to put the resources into the franchise – players, staff, coaches, facilities, etc – to build a winning team after decades of neglect by previous ownership.
Betcha a smack in the gob Santa don’t turn up this year, I just know it.
Pokemon Go, Brexit…. Yes, it’s been weird.
