Does anyone know of a way to hide bobble head Jelly Ken in the header here?

Having a seriously hard time with mannequin Ken staring at me…I put a piece of Duct tape over my screen to hide it….but I still am creeped out knowing he is still there. Any help to this end would be rewarded in copious amounts of gold bullion.

Click on the mobile button at the bottom of the site. That’s the only way to run from him.
If you are using Adblock Plus, you can block individual page elements. The easiest way is to right-click on the banner, and choose “Block Element” (if you are using Chrome) or “Adblock Plus: Block image” (if you are using Firefox). Regardless of which browser you are using, the blocking option should be near the bottom of the list the comes up when you right-click.
Works with regular Adblock too. I did after Brian posted he had. Just click on it as @SavoirFaire says.
Cool! It worked! Adios Ken!
@Cruiser Yup – the small victories of one’s day!
I too decapitated bobble head jelly Ken. Take that you cad!
It looks like a gimp mask complete with perma blowjob mouth hole
Gahhh! Ken is back on my home puter and can’t get ad block to take hold…grrrr
@chyna He reminds me of resuscitation Annie’s younger brother
@Cruiser so the best way is still switching to Mobile…
I would love to decapitate him too. He looks about six years old and very dim. I don’t get any Adblock option when I right-click, just the usual image-handling options. Why is this being inflicted on us, anyway? Dr. J looks many times more competent.
@Jeruba Are you using Chrome? I think Adblock is a free Chrome extension.
@Jeruba
Adblock Plus is free on Firefox.
Just don’t look at him, or resize your browser viewing area so he is cut out of view—.
OMG, that is a million times better. Thank you.
Looking at it through creative eyes, it would’ve made a good mask for Michael Myers, sort of a puberty version of William Shatner.
He looks like he wants to ask “she sat on my gelly samwich wat dose this mean?”
@Jeruba I agree but it is hard to rip on the Jelly mascot when the Fluther mascot where I choose to hang out is a cartooned jellyfish.
The cartooned jellyfish (Dr. J) looks many times more intelligent.
@Jeruba Oh my I find that so sad. Somebody please slap me…
So Himmler wins over the gimp mask?
What a stark choice.
So where’s the mobile button? @Mimishu1995, do you mean bottom of the page? or what’s the bottom of a site? I don’t see anything that says “mobile.’
Now that it seems possible for some to get rid of him, I find his presence more annoying than ever.
@Jeruba yes, the bottom of the page. I called ot “site” because it appears everywhere on this page. Maybe you can press crt+f on your browser and type “mobile” on the search box.
Or just go to m.fluther.com.
@Mimishu1995
I pressed Ctrl+f and searched for “mobile”, and to me, “mobile” appears only in our posts, and not on a button.
How would you feel about taking a screen shot of the mobile button, as it appears on the page where you see it?
There’s no need for you to apologize. Actually, I enjoyed seeing your browser page, especially where what appears to be your menu bar is in Vietnamese. Is “Cong cu” Vietnamese for “Tools”? :)
How about posting a shot of the top of your Fluther page?
Ok, that’s cool, but now… is there a way to block an image but not block other functions of the web site?
That is, AdBlock does more than that, and can interfere with stuff. Is there a way to allow “ads” but still block/replace images?
(Edit – I found a Block Image plugin for Firefox that seems to do it.)
Ooh! There’s also NicCage, which replaces images with pictures of Nicholas Cage, though I’m not sure if you get to only select some images… or…
@Zaku, where did you find the Block Image plugin? I’m wary of downloading and installing anything that I’m not 110% sure of, so personal recommendations count for a lot.
On the Firefox plugins page. I’m assuming they’re vetted, but I don’t know for certain. It (Image Blocker by Erik Vold) has 13 reviews, which are mixed, but the negative opinions are about wanting more features.
The one I really want is My Image Here, which lets you replace images with images from your computer, but it says it doesn’t work with Firefox 50.0… so I guess I’ll have to wait for them to update the plugin, unless I find another that does the same thing.
I will keep looking and see if I find a better-looking one.
@Zaku Adblock Plus should allow you to block individual elements. In any case, it doesn’t interfere with Fluther’s functionality at all (and you can enable or disable it selectively for any given site).
@SavoirFaire AdBlockPlus does let me block an individual element, but only when AdBlockPlus is enabled. There are other sites though where I might want to do this, but they are affected by AdBlockPlus (AskJelly and Imgur are both impaired by it being on).
@Zaku I can’t speak for other sites. I’m not on Jelly, and I’ve never had a problem with Adblock Plus on Imgur. In any case, you could always enable ABP and then allow everything except for what you choose to block. It’s a lot more roundabout of a solution, but it should still work. If Image Blocker is doing everything you need, though, I suppose there’s no need for anything roundabout.
@SavoirFaire Hmm, I guess I didn’t look very closely at the ABP options. So ABP can be active but you can unselect each thing that it might block? Hmm, year that’s good to know and could work for the other sites.
On Imgur, ABP was blocking my ability to receive notifications, so I had no idea if my comments or posts were responded to unless I went to each one.
On Jelly, ABP made it so when I posted an answer, nothing would seem to happen, leading to me posting many identical messages because I’d keep hitting the Answer button with the same answer.
Hmm. He seems to be gone from my screen now, without my changing anything. Looks like somebody heard our plea. Thanks, somebody.
Ughhh! @Jeruba you convinced me to turn off my adblocker….Ken is still creepin.
@Jeruba I found what I think is a superior plugin to AdBlocker Plus, which is uBlock Origin. It can be searched for in the Firefox plugin finder. It (as opposed to uBlock [not-Origin] and to ABP) is open-source and promises not to also use your activity data for its own corporate purposes. It also lets you easily see what is going on on each page as far as all the things it links to and which ones it blocks or not, and lets you right-click on something on a page and block it directly as an added choice to the right-click context menu. Very nice.
Thanks, @Zaku!
I deleted the Fluther page from my “frequently visited” list because it showed a thumbnail with the little creep on it.
