Can we put a tracking device on a golf ball?
So you save money on lost golf balls?

You’ll save money on balls, but waste it on tracking devices.
No point in implementing it. And why do you need lost golf balls anyways?
The size and weight and construction of a golf ball are strictly regulated to ensure fairness. Adding a tracking device might be technically possible but then you would no longer be playing golf.
It probably would not survive the impact from the club.
What…& then be culpable for head injuries you’d otherwise claim innocence from?
Nay lad…nay!!
It’s possible but golf balls are cheap. until you put fancy trackers on them
I would prefer to have a tracker on my keys, eyeglasses and wallet. The downside would be that I would now be traceable by outsiders.
@LostInParadise I have one on my keys and it’s not really traceable by others.
Absolutely! And there are systems that will easily survive the impact. EXACTO round
But,...
The device requires a power source – batteries need to be changed.
The unit would be expensive. With production volumes in the 100,000 per year range costs could conceivably be reduced to $50–75 for the electronics.for a modified GPS based system . If the golf courses were willing to put in a few small wifi based repeater systems the electronics cost per ball could be reduced to the $30–40 range.
I thought the trick was to keep the ball in play.
You might just track that ball into the belly of a 15 foot gator if you are golfing in Florida. lol
@BellaB That is cute. It uses bluetooth signal strength. the closer you get the stronger the signal. The preorder says they will sell for ~15 Euro a piece 6 for 90 Euro.
Golf balls are cheap enough as it is. I can’t really see there being a demand for this.
