Arranged marriages eliminate the freedom of choice and potentially places one or both parties in emotional, psychological, and/or physical distress or danger. The loss of autominy can degrade self worth, cause uncertainty, stress, and anxiety.
Arranged marriages are essentially bondage, a form of slavery.

1. You don’t know the person you’re about to marry. You usually meet them once or twice before marriage.
2. It’s not a marriage out of love, which is quite important today.
3. If it goes wrong, divorcing is very difficult. Arranged marriages are a part of patriarchal societies, and there is usually religious background, which sees marriage as an eternal bond, so divorcing and/or remarrying is difficult, or nearly impossible.
When you look at these factors, arranged marriage is in nowadays society (or at least some societies) seen as very obsolete and repulsive, thus not needed anymore.
