If you bang your head against the wall long enough, will it eventually turn into a door?

It just seems like this is a notion that plenty of people have these days. Except, it will never happen. So why do they have the notion?

Depends on what the wall is made of. But it wouldn’t be a door, just a hole.
It’s just a saying that illustrates the futility of something.
Lots of frustration out there these days.
Sometimes if not having a door is sufficiently dangerous, you have to exhaust all options no matter how futile seeming just for the sake of your conscience. Even at the cost of getting a headache.
Reminds me of the old (probably Sanskrit) saying that:
“Sometimes life closes one door.
When it does, open it again,
That is how doors work.”
@MrGrimm888 Your first two sentences were exactly what I was thinking of writing.
I don’t know, but you might end up with a concussion.
@Zaku . Great minds think alike;)
Why don’t you try it and report back? :-)
Well, the noise may at least alert others that you are in a locked room and they may blow a hole through the wall to save you or at the very least knock down the door.
So why not?
This was my second answer. @MrGrimm888 already stated my first answer.
I like @rojo answer as well.
I doubt it. Rather than a door, your head will likely turn into a “squash”...
I’m not sure if this is a prevalent notion or not these days. I only know that I got called out by my company’s CFO for using the phrase “banging my head against the wall”. Somehow it got back to him and he felt the need to give me a little lecture on the value of persistence. I say there is a difference between persistence and idiocy. When your best efforts are ineffective it is wise to stop wasting effort.
Live in hope, die in despair!
It will eventually turn into a diamond.
