I heard she had a stroke, so, obviously stress brought it on.

Holy Crap Batman! Get out of the way of all these Dominoes! She was a class act second to…well a couple super stars. What a double whammy to the family! Prayers….

Just saw the headline, yep, poor thing, clearly the shock, stress and grief of losing her daughter caused her too have a stroke or some other fatal medical event. One never knows what kind of crazy is going to unfold in life. RIP Debbie.

So very sad to hear this on the radio earlier. I broker out the Pizza Ritz in response. First stress-eating I’ve done in months.

Very sad. Let’s hope she’s the last death for this year. I feel for her son and granddaughter. The photographs you see of them suggest a very close and loving family.

It’s just awful, though expected. Carrie said her Mom has been losing her health dramatically over the last year.
That said, she was in her mid 80’s, and had a good run. I have a harder time with someone (like George Michael) who died while relatively young.

That’s a real family tragedy. RIP to both of them and thinking of the family.

I was 10 years old when I heard her sing Tammy, which was the first song I ever loved.

I just listened to it a few minutes ago, for the first time in about a year. My eyes are waterfallen.

I read that her son said her last words were “I want to be with Carrie”. Poor thing.

I surmise that at her age and with her other health related issues, that she, most likely, had not slept much, eaten much and was highly stressed on her vigil of watching over Carrie for 5 days straight until she died and the stress of it all brought on a stroke or heart attack of her own. Yes, poor thing.

It’s very sad. She was doing AIDS fundraisers as early as 1983. She was a pioneer.

I’ve seen it before. All animals are susceptible to stress, and we are no different.

I would rather be dead than endure that much heart ache.

RIP ladies…

It’s been a hell of a year for stuff like this. And yet Rush Limbaugh, Dick Cheney, and many other shit bags are still kicking…

Other famous people will die in 2017; and the years after that. I’m sad for Debbie’s family but I’m happy for her. She wanted to be with Carrie and I believe she is just that. And she was lucky to go quickly. Heck, my mother hung around for three years paralyzed on one side. I feel comfort in believing she’s with my older sister now.

I was on the way to my friend’s funeral a year ago. On a video billboard they had the “baby of the day” picture from a local hospital. The babies name was “King.”

The friend we were burying was named “Rex.” (Translation = King!)

Probably coincidence of course. But it captured the reality of the moment. Bitter sweet. The world lost a great young man. But it received another…

Such is the way of things. The Sun will come up tomorrow. With or without us…

All we can do is move forward. And make sure those we lost never truly die, by keeping their memories in our hearts.

Scenarios like this should remind us all to value our loved ones. Never take a moment for granted. Never leave angry. Never not pick up the phone when people call. The day may come when you would give anything for them to call again…

It is the calibre of the famous people who died this year that is so striking, @Aster. Yes, famous people will die next year, too. However, David Bowie changed the course of music’s trajectory. He was a seminal talent. Muhammad Ali was an icon for African Americans. He was a mountain. In my line of work (mental health), Carrie Fisher was a giant. She brought attention to mental health recovery by simply walking in the room. There is literally no one to take her place.
