This is about the blogger/mom of the baby:
”.... took to her website to reveal her youngest child, ...., suffered a cracked skull when his night nurse dropped him on the wooden floor after falling asleep with him on her lap.
“As detailed in the tell-all post, ... is steadily recovering from a skull fracture and bleeding from the brain incurred in the fall days after Thanksgiving.”
“The news saw an outpour of support from fans, along with waves of criticism.”
“To those who have expressed judgement, cruelty, and criticism of me, my choices, or my fragility during this time- I’m not going to justify myself to you,” she wrote in an Instagram post, ..”
Why would there be any criticism of the mom?

Parents are like ship’s captains and presidents. The ‘buck’ of responsibility stops with them.
I wouldn’t have been so judgemental, but then I’m not the type who goes online in search of tragedies over which to rubberneck.
The night nurse? Was the kid in the hospital? What choices did she make?
It’s my guess that the mother is being judged either for appearing to not be raising her own child since presumably the term ‘night nurse’ indicates that this caretaker tends to the child at night or for being careless when hiring this caretaker.
Folks always want to put responsibility on the parents for child tragedies which in a lot of cases is valid but here does seem extreme with what little detail there apparently is.
We are, ultimately, responsible, I think.
Gotta love how people jump straight to the mom, too, rather than the dad.
Why would there be any criticism of the mom?
she talks about a bunch of the whys in her blog
Well, we don’t have a link to her blog.
Right @Mariah?
I posted the link to her blog.
I skimmed through the blog post and the beginning of the comments.
I think to really hear the criticism of her, it’s not going to be on her blog, because the people that read and follow her blog are going to be supportive, as it seems they were. To really get an idea of the criticism of her, we’d have to read articles about it elsewhere and read those comments.
It’s hard to say what the criticisms are without reading them directly. I’d say people would be critical of her having a “night nurse” which means she’s probably well off.
My cousin adopted a baby and had a nurse live with her for two weeks in the beginning, to teach her all about babies and how to deal with him, and the safety stuff. She’s well off. When I was pregnant, she offered to pay for two weeks of a live in nurse for me. I didn’t want it because I didn’t want to deal with a stranger in my house, sleeping here. I would have been stressed out having someone over me. I did fine on my own. My daughter survived haha.
My son wiggled himself off of my platform bed and cracked his head on the hardwood floor when he was like three weeks old. I was sitting right there next to him and couldn’t stop it.
I didn’t even take him to the doctor.
No one has crucified me yet, and he’s now a thriving eight year old.
The blogger in this case is looking for attention, and whattayaknow. She got it. That’s my only opinion on the matter.
When my son was about 3 months old I had him in his car seat. We had just returned from some place and I put him, in the car seat, on the kitchen table. I unbuckled the straps. I went into the living room to do something real fast when suddenly I heard this SPLAT sound. My blood ran cold. I ran back to the kitchen going “NO WAY! NO WAY!” Yes way. He was belly down on the kitchen floor, waving his little arms and legs around like a beached whale. I could not believe it. Fortunately he was a really fat baby and it didn’t even hurt him at all. He didn’t cry, either. That was the first of many “Oh, no way!“s
@Seek I agree. She’s using her son’s accident to get attention. Rick’s best friend has been battling cancer for 2 years. It gets really rough at times. When we talk to them, though, his wife just carries on about how hard it is for her, and I’m sure it is…but still….
That’s why I posted the link to the blog. My baby fell – oh my god I’m so upset. My husband fell – omg I couldn’t handle it. My child fell – omfg it is all about me.
The page where she first mentioned the baby drop is where people really whacked her. Not sure why they’re following her to begin with. Not sure I’d know who she was if I wasn’t aware of <ptooey> her mother.
My oldest was like that. She was 16 when her first son was born. When he was 2 he put his hand on a red hot burner as he was leaning over to get something. Why the fuck she had him up on a chair in front of the stove, and why the fuck she was cooking on the front burner (which I told her never to do when you have little ones) I have no clue. But it was pretty bad. Poor, poor kid. Well, the father was in town to visit. He came to the doctors and my daughter threw herself in his arms sobbing, “Oh my God! The burner was red hot!” sobbing and crying. He had to push her off so he could get to his son.
Accidents happen. My son was once bouncing on a couch/sofa and flew through the air and hit his head on a marble coffee table. I was sitting there right beside him. Oh gosh, he did so many things. He went to visit him grandma who lived then near an old railway line. After telling him many times and explaining the dangers he decided to sneak down to the train line. He climbed on top of a train and then grab the electrical wire above the train. This landed in a ER visit.
I love @Mariah comment regards the dad!
No one is to blame I feel for this. Perhaps I’d get softer flooring for a small child. I know that my neighbors for example, filled their yard with hard white stones, I always wondered if he fell off of the swing or whatever, if he would be injured.
Relevant. However the news kept talking about a toddler “saving his brother’s life, News at 9!” I hardly think the accident was a life and death situation, though. Not like a swimming pool. Or a pond.
One of our own said that her kid once accidentally pulled a dresser or table over, that had a very heavy tube TV on it. Missed him by inches. Shudder.
That was mine, too. The TV landed on his arm, but just bruised it. And then there was the fishtank. And the dog attack. And the fall at Home Depot…
And mine: Stuck in a mail box. ♥ Split chin in the driveway using a hot wheels as a step stool. ♥ Split chin at Walmart. ♥ Split chin at Sam’s. ♥ Split chin bouncing on the bed when he hit the bed post (that one makes me kind of sick if I think about it too hard.) ♥ Split head snowboarding when the snowboard came down on his head. ♥ Split head when he threw half a brick straight up in the air when he was 4, yelling “Hey Mom! Watch this!” ♥ Major road rash when he was playing tackle football with his other thick headed friends and they named the street the end zone. ♥ On the back of this school picture I have written, “The eye is the result of an experiment with a brick, a board and gravity. Gravity won.”
