Can you do more? Are they right? You just choose not to. Why do you choose not to?

I can do more. Maybe. I don’t know.
I don’t know if others are right, because I don’t know what they think, nor do I know much else either.

Not really. I already work to a high level. Historically, family and friends have encouraged me to do less. I’m harder on myself than anyone else could ever be.
Yeah, I can but in keeping work-life balance I do not. Learned that lesson the hard way.
Well yeah, I mean I could, but you see…we have staff for that
Not everybody. My girlfriend thinks I do too much.
But clearly the government does.
On the other hand, I will probably do my best to meet expectations. Something I learned from my dad, and his dad.
So there you go.
I feel the demand and pressure to do more from so many angles….scouts, family, work, volunteering, kids sports, play dates that over those years, my first reaction was no, no, no-more and I sat on my hands refusing to raise my hand to help out. I watched in awe how ordinary folks in the same shoes I wore stepped up and took on these challenges that then directly affected the quality of the experiences my kids were enjoying and marveled at how they found the time to make this all happen.
It was not until I finally took on assistant Den leader then Den leader of the Cub Scouts, then recruitment leader of my sons Boy Scout Troop, and in between Adult leader of campouts and outings that while executing them I never really felt pressed or overburdened to do these things….all that time I did have the time….I just lacked the willingness and commitment to invest my time into those times. Best investments I have ever made.
Not everyone, but pretty much.
Stay at home parents from previous generations didn’t have a need to feel guilty for not working outside of the home. What a shame it is now.
Sometimes I do too much ”more,” and other times too little….
I could do more. There were times in my life when I did every thing I could possible do, but now I can say I could do more.
