Can I save a balsam wood wreath until next year?

Or will it dry up and rot?

I’d think you could store it just fine in an area that has modulated temps. no humidity and where it won’t get crushed and misshapen. Probably laid flat on the shelf of a closet or hung up on the inside of a closet door maybe? What about a plastic storage container?
