My husband received notification on his phone that it's been heavily infected with a virus. Is this a scam?
It has an authentic-looking GOOGLE heading. Says if he doesn’t click on whatever his phone will be severely damaged. I told him not to do anything until I could talk to you guys.

Don’t trust anything sent unbidden straight to the phone. And don’t use the phone until it is checked out.
Call your carrier or wherever you bought the phone, and tell them what happened, and ask if it is real or a scam. Best have them verify that the phone is working. It should not cost anything.
I told him not the click the thing.
According to Google, these type of viral scams means he has been surfing less than reputable porn sites. Tell him to cut that shit out.
Almost certainly a scam. Like—99.99999% certain.
Who wants reputable pornography?
Delete it without clicking! It is a scam!
Here is a good description of the scam and how it worlks.
Have him remove the last “App” he added. Have him go to the “Play Store” if he has Android or if he has Apple go to the “App Store” and download and use Lookout then run the Lookout App a couple of times.
Then if he wants to reload the App he deleted Lookout will check it out to see if it safe.

Oh, don’t listen to those Yahoos. Click it. Live on the edge. See what happens. You know you want to.
Mobile app developers do not take such oaths.
LOL! He was giving me unsound medical advice.
Scam. I even get these calls on my house phone.
