Pay for training, have a good day job, because you aren’t gonna make cash working indie gigs for the first 5 years or so, if ever.

Buy boots and tights. Don’t wrestle in sneakers and street clothes.

Read Mick Foley’s book.

They were fired once already for thinking they were hot stuff. You could listen to me, or keep being a fanboy.

End of discussion :)

I can’t believe no one has said this…. Go to wrestling school!! The WWE strongly frowns upon those with no formal training. The best way to get in (unless you’re already a star in RoH or TNA) is to climb the ladder. This means going to a respected wrestling school, outperforming all your peers. Then, get a development contract. Then, go to Ohio Valley Wrestling (or another farm promotion). Then you might get a call-up to perform at a WWE house show or to participate in a skit. If you’re a breakout star in OVW though, you might have a shot. Most recent champs came through OVW- Cena, Batista, Orton. CM Punk made his name at RoH.

It’s a long hard road to get to the top, and it goes without saying that a lot of natural talent, charisma, and luck will help you along the way. Hopefully you’re also between 6’ and 6’4” and carry around about 250lbs of muscle with you. Most high flyers never get to be champ in the WWE.

@wrestlemaniac What kind of advice do you want? I don’t understand what you’re looking for.

Well, a friend of mine was close friends with Billy Kidman, and the best pieces of advice I can give you are obvious things, like work hard and don’t give up. But he also used to talk about how young guys would come into the company (both WCW and WWE) and they’d act like they were the shit, very cocky. They made no friends and were left out, and eventually were fired from the company. So make friends! Especially with the older guys, as they are the ones who are likely to mention your name when it comes time to push a new guy. But pro wrestling is a very old school profession, they are very particular about being on time, showing up were you’re supposed to be, being very respectful. The guys who know their history always do well. Stuff like that. I would also recommend you watch tons and tons of old matches. Get yourself a netflix account and get the DVDs of any and all PPVs you can find. The more the better.

Good luck with your career!

Sounds like you have a tremendous leg up on most people who want to break into the business. Meet HHH as soon as you can!
