Who will blink first,Trump, or China? (Details )

Asked by MrGrimm888 (19541points) January 24th, 2017

So. Trump’s team has openly suggested that they are not on board with the “one China” concept. Recently they stated China will not be allowed to build any further on the islands in the South China Sea, and that the US will block China from accessing the islands they already built on (the ones in international waters. )

China has already stated that these two issues will lead to all out war,if the US gets involved.

China recently sent their Navy to Taiwan as a show of defiance to Trump.

So.

Will.Trump call China’s bluff, and install naval barricades around the islands in question?

Will China declare war on the US to ensure their interests ?

It seems like a dangerous game of chicken. This type of scenario is exactly what I was afraid of with Trump. China is testing him,and he is responding just as I thought….

My concern is China stops selling cheap Walmart shit here. This would probably hurt us way more than them. They can subsidies the loss. The poor people that depend on walmart will be screwed if the shelves are empty, along with the workers.

A dangerous game is being played. And it is one we can’t win.

@johnpowell I thought Trump wanted all products in America would be made by in America.

But even then I’m not surprised. That fat fool won’t think about how his products will reach the poor. He was, and still is, a capitalist who just wants more money after all.

@Mimishu1995 . I was hoping to hear from you. Do you think this will start a war?

I’m hoping it won’t.

If the Trump Regime enacts a military blockade (which constitutes an act of war, by the way) upon China’s settled territory, what other response than war can even be expected from a country that is rebuilding itself to be a global superpower, or even any country for that matter?

MrGrimm888's avatar

^loli. China would probably be in over its head in a current war with America. Would they risk it?

In some years, they will have more Carriers, aircraft etc. But at the moment (other than land to sea missiles ) China would be a underdog in most military matches V.S. the US.

China would be wiser to hold off until they have a comparable military.

Will they go “all in,” and declare war on the US?

How do you think Trump will respond?

@MrGrimm888 I don’t know either, there is still too few signs, and I hope it won’t too. But if there is, no one is going to get anything from it. America will lose their main source of manpower and their control on the South China Sea, and China has to face their worst fear: getting squashed by American military power (China looks fearless, but deep down they know their power is no match to America. They just have a larger population). Not to mention other countries will also take the hit. Japan (having to help America), Vietnam (getting some stray bullets and bombs from China for being too close to them), to name a few. Maybe both America and China know it and have to think carefully before touching any weapon really, Trump isn’t really the highest king of the whole USA anyway.

@MrGrimm888
How fast do you think China will have its war economy up and running to spit out military machinery like a herd of rabbits?

MrGrimm888's avatar

^I don’t know. The whole situation scares me….

I had a dream that the whole world was at war. I saw carriers being built in our shipyards. I saw them parked in massive groups. I hung my head in shame. In fear. In disgust.

In the dream, I wanted to run away. But I couldn’t think of a corner of the globe that would be unaffected by war….

I just hate seeing people die for fucking NOTHING…..

China owned $1.3 trillion of U.S. Treasuries as of June, 2015, making it the biggest holder of U.S. debt. But China’s foreign-exchange reserves plunged by a record $94 billion in August, 2015, according to the country’s central bank, leaving it with a war chest of $3.6 trillion.

China owns our asses and Trump could personally lose over $58M if he changes the trade deal the way he promised.

Trump worships Mammon. Mammon is on China’s side on this one. LOL.

China would probably be in over its head in a current war with America.

We just lost two wars to guys in sandals with only IEDs and AKs.

Fighting at the end of a long supply chain is much harder than close to home.

The real danger is the new president who can be goaded into a Twitter fight by Rosie O’Donnell. He might be dumb and short sighted enough to retaliate all out of proportion and a lot of people killed.

Trump isn’t really the highest king of the whole USA anyway.

He is commander in chief, the top of the military command. Hopefully there will be enough officers pushing back against idiotic orders, or willing to be removed or court martialed rather than work against American (and humanity’s) interests.

Trump has just withdrawn from the Trans Pacific Partnership leaving a huge gap that will likely be filled by China. If he’s pulling out economically it makes less sense to get involved in the region militarily.

Total war between the US and China will never happen in our life times. Neither nation is capable of putting enough boots on the ground to take the other. China, with their vast ground forces, does not yet have the navy to get their army over here. We have the navy, but not he ground forces to take such a huge country. Neither country can take the other. So get war out of your heads..

We might have a limited war, or one by proxy if China continues to get aggressive in Southeast Asia.

Total war would be nuclear missiles, not invading armies.

In the end, Trump will back down, because he is a dealmaker and fundamentally weak. He has no deep understanding of regional or international politics.

There’s a lot of confusion over this issue and a misunderstanding of Trump.

Trump isn’t referring to China.

He’s talking about a fictional nation called “Jina”.

kritiper's avatar

Talk is cheap and Trump is full of talk. But I think he is also a bully willing to stake his claim to and on anything. It will be interesting to see who throws shit into the fan first, and who tries to dodge the splatter, and how. True with North Korea, too.

That would be ‘gina.

He thinks he can grab it.

This is not worth fighting over. War with China would not be a good idea. Even with their weaker navy, China would have a large logistical advantage. This is not comparable to Britain fighting Argentina over the Falklands. Keep in mind that China and Russia are allies and, as much at Trump likes Putin, I don’t see Putin choosing the U.S. over China. Consider also that the U.S. would be unwise to disrupt its trade with China.

Yeah, like either country has leadership that crazy. How many times a day do have to change your fucking drawers, man? You’re letting presidency make you hysterical. Grow some fucking nads, roll up your sleeves and go to to work on the problem.

Call_Me_Jay's avatar

Calm down, child. I didn’t say it was likely.

Except of course that it almost happened during the Cold War.
And Drumpf is no Kennedy.

Of note.

Trump requested lots of fighter jets ,war machines, and even nukes on trucks for his inauguration. Doesn’t seem like a passive style of thinking. He has always enjoyed projecting his power. I don’t think he’d bat an eye at killing millions from his golden tower…
