Why do the Trump team and media think it makes sense to compare the audience for Reagan and Trump inauguration?

Because Reagan is the only former president they care about being compared to.

I haven’t seen the comparisons. Do you have a link? A lot of people who voted for Trump idealize Reagan. If the numbers are similar to Reagan I guess Trump is saying that demonstrates he is as good as Reagan.

It’s stupid.

It’s as stupid as the media comparing Trump to Obama, and Trump lying and twisting stats to counter the media.

A comparison with Nixon’s second term or Putin might be more appropriate.

Actually to be fair it’s the press secretry who brought up Reagan.
Did the press say to him that they’re not comparable because…? Or did they say that Regan had x number and Trump had
y number?
