Whatever happens, Trump will take the credit for all the secrets he reveals.
Advanced interrogation, maybe. Enhanced interrogation no.
The correct term is ‘torture’.
Doubtful that they would, but who knows?
The reason for torture, at least back in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, was to learn about imminent attacks. Since El Chapo is a business-related prisoner, not a terrorism-related prisoner, it’s unlikely that he has information about imminent attacks. Therefore the rationale for torture does not exist.
I think the other reason it’s doubtful is for the court case. if they torture him, then the prosecution is tainted and he might go free. If they handle him normally, he may go to SuperMax for the rest of his life.
Bottom line: No.
I wonder if he would be willing to give information about rival gangs. Is there a code of omerata (silence) among drug dealers like there was in the Mafia?
They don’t really need information from him. He was extradited for security reasons.
Apparently Mexico is too corrupt to hold him without escape. I wonder if the US will do a better job.
