Is there a difference in taste between making coffee from ground coffee compared with freshly grinding the coffee beans yourslef?

My neighbor grinds and roasts his own. I can’t tell the difference. But I definitely can say the aroma in his house is delicious!
In the summer he roasts in his garage and it smells so good even an 1/8 mile away!
I think to a real connoisseur, the difference may be obvious. Similar to a wine connoisseur being able to tell various flavors and scents in wine.
A friend of mine got a job at Starbucks a long time ago (over ten years ago) and she told me they gave the barristas training on the various coffee growing regions in the world. I know the difference between a strong cup (like Starbucks), a strong home cup (like French) and a weak home cup but that’s about it.
As long as the coffee is good quality , not much either way the real difference is in how pure the water is that is used to make the coffee.
There is a very big difference, because ground coffee you buy in the store loses its volatile oils very quickly. Freshly ground coffee still has much of that, and it adds depth and aroma to the flavor.
I buy whole beans directly from Graffeo Roasting Company in San Francisco. It makes a far superior cup.
Yeah, as others have said, it’s about freshness, which degrades over time. But different people have very different tastes and sensitivities about coffee.
Fresh ground coffee has not oxidized yet and in theory should taste better.
In my experience, there is an enormous difference, even though quality and flavour vary widely in both pre-ground and freshly-ground beans.
Emphatic yes! When you grind your own coffee you get to choose the coarseness of the grind. Plus grinding your beans at the moment you brew your coffee ensures the most flavor you can extract from those beans. Butt that said…ground Dewey Eggebert coffee all the way from England is all I drink these days. Until I found that coffee grind I would only drink PG Tips tea.
