Will anything happen if there continues to be protests?

Asked by chelle21689 (7907points) January 28th, 2017

So many people are protesting against Donald Trump, not just the States but around the world. What do you think will happen if he continues to anger so many?

It will go downfall for Donald that’s all I know. They might as well just kick him out and start a new election straight away ;D Nah just kidding, I don’t think it’s even possible.

Darth_Algar's avatar

China has already stated that war with the United States is looking increasingly likely.

cinnamonk's avatar

I pity any country stupid enough to wage war against the United States.

Darth_Algar's avatar

I pity the fool that underestimates a country like China.

Brian1946's avatar

I think you’re both right, especially if China has nuclear-capable ICBMs.

Patty_Melt's avatar

Hmmm. Can anybody guess why an alliance with Putin might be a good thing?
Does anyone recall Nixon’s relationship with China, or know why he did such major turn around?
Keep your friends close…

Zaku's avatar

@Brian1946 China does have nuclear ICBMs, and nuclear submarines. Not vast numbers of them, but enough in theory to destroy the largest cities of the USA, which one would hope would be a deterrent. Too bad we have a crazy clown in charge . . .

These idiots will eventually bore off & realise there’s fuck all their pathetic protests can achieve.
No wait, recognition & awareness…yawn!

MrGrimm888's avatar

Definitely maybe…..

Protests (of this magnitude) are ,in large part,a last resort before revolution…

If you are the government, and people are taking this much of their free time to get out and peotest, you should take notice.

chelle21689's avatar

You think that it’s possible to overthrow? I mean it’s happened before where people came out in masses. I wonder how it would work.

stanleybmanly's avatar

There will be loud denial from Trump on the extent of the protests. There will be even more vigorous dismissal of their significance. In fact the “dishonest press” has fabricated all of it, and the few misguided losers roaming the streets are the paid dupes of “crooked Hillary”.

Yellowdog's avatar

In the first place, China is nowhere near organized enough to start a war. Any ire China has with us is not from Trump.

The protests have been greatly,, GREATLY exaggerated by the media. If you look at the organizers of the “protests” they are organized by groups with ties to George Soros. There have been no Trump protests in Memphis except a few lone rioters who think they are part of a national movement.

Trump’s approval rating is pretty normal (about 45 for, 45 against, 5% not sure) and the majority of regions or states in this country voted for him. If you take ALL California votes out of the equation, Trump wins by over a million votes.

Since Trump has been in office, a lot of people I know have changed their minds drastically about him. The rioting I’ve seen has voices spewing accusations and comparisons that seem way far from reality. Even major news sources have published stories and blurbs that turn out to be complete falsehoods.
Take the story about Trump removing the bust of MLK from the oval office. Who would’ve ever thought such libel would be reported by major news networks? Who ever thought a U.S. president (Obama) would say that a subsequent candidate (Trump) has ties to the Ku Klux Klan?

Who is George Soros?

Tropical_Willie's avatar

@Yellowdog WHO IS YOUR DRUG DEALER ? ? ?

Yellowdog's avatar

I find it hard to believe in this day and age, there are people who do not know who George Soros is. Why not Google it?

The other responses seem to only be personal attacks—the usual response.

As many who have come to see the mainstream news outlets for what they are—as many times as the news has turned out to be false—there are those of you who still are unaware and whose brains dismiss anything that challenges them as “fake news” or “alternate facts”.

AnonymousAccount8—I hope you do a quick search on who George Soros is.

Most of the “protest” movements have his funding behind it. They are staged and organized and even the media participates. The “protests” are not grass-roots movements but organized. They are staged to bring about civil unrest and rioting to bring about a national mindset that supports his cause. Soros isn’t the only name out there but his agenda is clear, public information.

So far there’s already been a stay on the Muslim Ban while federal courts work to strike it down.

That popped up within hours – I watched it happen through Twitter. People took over the airport terminals – starting with JFK – and the spreading word drew some lawyers to work pro-bono to petition writs of habeas corpus to have illegally detained Muslims released.

Darth_Algar's avatar

@Yellowdog

Let me guess – you get your information from Breitbart and InfoWars.

Yellowdog's avatar

Hmmmm… the New York Times, Washington Post, and several local newspapers in my area reported that a bust of MLK was removed from the Oval Office.

Only a small retraction was printed in the New York Times. Others carried the story.

And, George Soros is in Wikipedia.

Darth_Algar's avatar

Doesn’t address the question.

Yellowdog's avatar

Fair enough.

The “protests” are staged, organized events with sponsors that are organized and network with others who organize such protests. George Soros, and a few other same individuals, are usually involved. These are not “grass roots” efforts, nor is there a rea “uprising” in this country

As for the “Muslim Ban”—check the integrity of your “news” source. There is no Muslim ban enacted by Trump. The vetting applies to COUNTRIES whose “refugees” most commonly harbor terrorists among their numbers, Again, COUNTRIES, not religion/Islam.

cinnamonk's avatar

what proof do you have that the protests are staged?

what proof do you have that the Muslim ban that’s been reported in the news over the last day isn’t real?

who is George Soros?

Yellowdog's avatar

No Muslim ban—only vetting for certain countries.’

Several pages of links of information, articles, definitions, on George Soros if you enter the name in Google or whatever search engine you have. Not exactly an obscure or unknown person.

cinnamonk's avatar

what proof do you have that the protests are staged?

Darth_Algar's avatar

@Yellowdog

Still doesn’t address the question. Nor did I say anything about a Muslim ban.

And as for your belief that China isn’t organized enough to start a war – think again. And even beyond the prospect of military war China holds trillions of our debt. If they wanted they could royally fuck our economy for years to come.

Yellowdog's avatar

If they try to take their money back, we will just have to kick their ass. Simple enough?

Darth_Algar's avatar

Are you really this deluded?

Tropical_Willie's avatar

WAIT “let’s Nuke” is not the answer @Yellowdog

Seek's avatar

Straight up: my son’s not going to war. Is yours?

Yellowdog's avatar

No ban on Muslims—only on seven nations that support or train Isis terrorists, or from which terror attacks have occurred on American soil in the last three years.

Seven nations are on the current moratorium—most Muslim nations are not.

Check your news sources. They may be among the biggest News organizations, such as CNN, NBC, or the New York Times—but to call it a “Muslim Ban” as so many of you want to maintain, is Fake News, as you are so fond of calling us who state facts that disagree with the hysteria you like to spread.

Seek's avatar

You didn’t answer my question, Duke Nukem.

flutherother's avatar

The worst that can happen is the anti-Trump protests escalate across the world and across the United States to the point where something snaps in the mighty Trump brain and he decides to end it all taking the rest of us with him. He has the nuclear codes and the possibility to be the greatest suicide bomber in history. Only there would no longer be any history.

Yellowdog's avatar

I am a pacifist—(Salem Brethren). But I hope our military would defend us from an invasion from China (not exactly nuking them, eh?} And I hope a strong military can be rebuilt to have on standby. You wouldn’t like living under China, either—even though Bill Clinton gave it “most favored nation” status while the rest of the world were citing human rights violations.

In any case, I don’t like people posing as objective news agencieswho have an obvious political agenda.. — and a talent for creating civil unrest and protest. That’s not a formula for peace in the world.

Seek's avatar

If they try to take their money back, we will just have to kick their ass.

Doesn’t sound particularly pacifistic.

MrGrimm888's avatar

@Yellowdog . ”...a talent for creating civil unrest and protest.”

The media existed before Trump even ran. It is Trump’s poorly thought out, inflammatory, devisive rhetoric, and actions that have spurred the public unrest. He’s a shit stirring lunatic.

MY source is Trump’s own mouth. What I hear in his brief puffs of arrogance speaks volumes about him,and his intentions…

With all due respect, maybe you could listen to his words, and ignore the media all together. That should paint a clear enough picture. The person working hardest to destroy Trump is Trump himself.

kenki's avatar

Nah. Nothing will happen. Protests are meant to bring awareness and leftist politicians are already aware. They just can’t do anything about it because they lost over 1000 seats on the federal, state, and local levels of government. Also, for every anti-trumper is a pro-trumper. This keeps a balance between love and hate for Trump

At this point these protests are pointless for at least the next 8 years. Futility won’t deter leftists from trying to change the world with twitter hashtags and hugs.

Seek's avatar

Also, for every anti-trumper is a pro-trumper.

Patently untrue. 17 million people who voted, picked someone other than Trump. Half the electorate didn’t vote at all.

He’s vastly outnumbered.

Seek's avatar

(that was, 17 million picked someone other than Hillary or Trump. And Hillary got 3 million more than him.

I will never debate a Jew with Christianity—because I respect their faith (their “position”), I realize they already have access to the same information that I do, and I recognize that some people cannot be persuaded—not for intellectual reasons as much as long-held, deep-seated convictions.

People can and will change their own position whenever they find that need on their own.

I am not “agreeing to disagree” because I WILL state what I think is relevant—but I recognize that you have relevance in what you say as well, and that I could be wrong. About all I can do is apologize for going against the grain of your position.

I do not see “protest” and “rioting” as a means to “peace’ and, although Trump has said some foul things I do not think he is dangerous, unhinged, or a world dictator. Things will turn out however they will turn out. I will peacefully resist, even unto my death, anything that goes against my convictions if Trump turns out to be a world-class dictator or China takes us over. But I rely on societal trends around me, the national military, and God—to protect what rights we do have. We have a right to live in peace.

Sorry about the :kicking their ass” comment. (I did not mean Nuke ‘em) But the thing that would persuade us from a Chinese invasion (just like I said about the Soviets more than 35 years ago)—if a foreign power tried to subdue us by military force, we would not submit. Our people (U.S.) would indeed resist with violence and rioting.

Now that I think about it, maybe that’s some of your(s) response to Trump.

Darth_Algar's avatar

Good thing the Founding Fathers did not share such views about protesting huh?

Darth_Algar's avatar

And just out of curiosity, how exactly, would we kick their asses if China called in our debt to them? It takes money to wage war. Money we wouldn’t have in that scenario.

flutherother's avatar

@Yellowdog I would change ‘we have a right to peace’ to ‘everyone has a right to peace’. I also think Trump is behaving more like a dictator than any president I can remember. The guy worries me and if I were an American I would be protesting too. That’s what being an American all is about. You have to stand up, literally, for what you believe in. Later may be too late.

MrGrimm888's avatar

@Darth_Algar is correct. China paid for our last war in Iraq. I doubt that they would float the bill for us to turn our war machine on them.

We have oil.reserves, and resources here. But money would still be required…
