Sure. Through medical intervention, I utterly failed to die in childbirth.
Suck it, Reaper.
I don’t know if this counts, but one time driving home on an interstate through twisty roads in a mountainous area I could feel myself getting really tired. Exits were 40 miles apart, but I decided to pull over onto a widened area of shoulder. I felt it left me vulnerable regarding safety as a young woman alone, but I decided to do it.
It was the first time I had ever pulled over like that, admitting to myself I was too tired to drive. I was 5 hours in on a 7.5 hour trip, and I really wanted to just get to my destination.
I remember pulling the car over, next thing I know I’m waking up 1.5 hours later. I didn’t remember turning off the car, that’s how fast I fell asleep.
I think if I had kept driving I would have gone over a cliff or created a major car accident possibly killing myself and others.
Yes. At least 3 times. I was almost buried alive, partially ejected out of a vehicle and it ended up on top of me, had a MRSA infection.
I went into septic shock when I was 17 and I definitely would have died or at least lost organs if I hadn’t been in a hospital at the time, which I had arrived at the night before after having had symptoms for a couple weeks. It also happened to be a shift change at the moment I went into shock, so there were twice as many doctors and nurses on the floor (and they all came into my room).
Also I’m pretty sure the universe it trying to kill me now and is mad as hell that I keep surviving. Full bowel obstruction 3 months ago, norovirus 48 hours ago, and I’m waiting to find out later today about whether I have skin cancer.
