When is the next state of the union adress?

Trump will address both houses of Congress on February 28, but as he will have only been in office for less than 6 weeks, it won’t be called the SOTU. As @kritiper points out, that will be early next year.

What is the purpose of the State of the Union Address? Article II, Section 2 of the United States Constitution provides that the President “shall from time to time give to the Congress Information of the State of the Union, and recommend to their Consideration such Measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient.”

Update on January 16, 2019— Speaker Pelosi has withdrawn the invitation to President Trump to address Congress on January 29 becuase he has shut down the government. The Speaker has offered him to either reschedule for after the government re-opens, or submit the SOTU in writing, as was done in the early years of the Republic.
