What are some mundane, but satisfying things, that happen in your everyday life?

Asked by Kardamom (33525points) February 22nd, 2017

Keep it clean folks, this is not meant for sexual stuff.

What I’m talking about are things that you encounter on some regular basis, that when they happen, put a little smile of satisfaction on your face.

Some examples:

When you buy a carton of yogurt, or one of those tubs of potato salad that have a thin plastic membrane as an extra protective cover under the lid, that you have to pull off first, when you can pull off that plastic membrane in one whole piece, without it ripping. That is so satisfying. It’s a pain in the arse when you try to pull one off and only a small section of it comes loose and then you have to try to cut the rest of it off with a knife.

When you are cutting a piece of wrapping paper, or fabric, and your scissors just slice cleanly through the length like it’s going through butter. That is very satisfying. It’s a pain in the arse when you have to clip, clip, clip it all the way across, or if it snags.

What simple things do you encounter in your life that may not be mindblowing, but are still very satisfying?

I had some leftover soup for lunch just now.

The slice of bread I cut was exactly the right size to sop up all the leftover broth.

Perfect.

When i’m out on my daily run & I get a smile off this reasonably pretty girl runner, we kind of cross paths on our regular route.
Also & this will come as no great surprise, yes, I do glance back at her tight lycra clad arse, only for a brief moment though for fear of running into a tree or something :D

I commute to work by bus. On the vast majority of days, it’s really rather quiet. I read, and I appreciate the quiet. It’s quiet so often that when it’s not, it’s very noticeable. Yesterday, a man was talking to another man in a loud voice. He got off at a popular stop, and I was grateful to see him go.

The voices of young children playing in the street.
Phoning an organisation and getting a human reply right away.
Clouds dancing in the sunlight outside.
The colour of a dragonfly.

Releasing gas from my colon.
But that goes with out saying. Germans love releasing gas.

I just feel comfortable in my home, surrounded by my mismatched, bargain furniture and decades of accumulated belongings that I would not feel the least bit sorry if they floated away in the flood. I hasten to say, we only have minor runoff type flooding in the patio room, due to an overflowing swimming pool, and mud clogged yard drainage system.

I took my 17 year old out to dinner and we actually had a real conversation on a level that has not happened at the dinner table at home. Happy dad

I purchased the Hell pore cleanser by Milky Piggy. It’s supposed to get all the dirt out of your pores. You put it on, wait for it to dry and then rip it off. Yes, rip it off, it’s supposed to be the most painful mask in the world. I must be tough. It gives me great pleasure ripping it off. No, not in that way.

P.S. Also picking up my huge goldfish by hand when I am cleaning their tank. (I just grab it with my hands, I am African after all).

One day I went to a shop. That shop is my to-go place for certain items. After I did my purchase the owner suddenly told me with a smile that she hadn’t seen me lately. It was true that I didn’t come to the shop for some time, but I was surprised that she cared. We had a short chat and I went out feeling good.

I like to park in the same spot for work everyday. And everyday that my spot is available, it makes me happy.

When I get home from work every day, my dog stomps on her front feet in excitement. Then she hugs me. It’s great to feel loved!
