Your lack of talking to the kid at all was kind of creepy at first, and I do think it’s abusive to feed a kid dog biscuits. Chasing a kid around the house and throwing him on the bed can be fun and playful but it was YOUR silence that was so weird. (along with the dog biscuits)

Okay, so you knocked his head into a wall while he was laughing, showed him what happens when you put your hair close to the TV, threw him like a rag doll onto a soft cushy surface, and practically force-fed him cinnamon crackers that are not dog biscuits?

I agree… your silence was creepy… not even a giggle..? But other than that I don’t see how this could be considered child abuse at all. Even if they were real dog biscuits, every kid with a dog tries them at some point, and he was obviously enjoying them. If he wasn’t laughing, then I’d say you pushed it. But ghastly? Uh, no.

I had no idea Kelloggs made those.

I’m not sure showing a kid that it is fun to bang their head into various structures would be considered a good idea. My two year old son does that enough by accident, I don’t want him making a habit out of it.

I’ve done some of the same things you’ve done with my nephews (tossed ‘em on beds, spun them in circles, etc.). I think there is a difference between rough housing and deliberately attempting to hurt a child.

Not child abuse. Your nephew was obviously having a good time. However, another child, one more anxious, might not enjoy such treatment. It’s always important to consider the reaction of the child when deciding how to play with one.

@Judi – Funny thing about the silence, I make movies… and whenever the camera’s rolling, no matter what happens, I am quiet. Not until a take is “over” are you supposed to speak, or really breathe or move around or anything… heh.

Aww, it certainly looked like your nephew was enjoying himself, I see nothing wrong with it, I’ve seen worse happen between kids. The silence was kind of creepy though (I didn’t watch the whole video by the way, I watched short clips and skipped through it, as interesting as it was…)
