How would you make your thumb stop bleeding?

I was clipping my nails, and I pulled the rest of the nail off instead of clipping it. I took some skin with it and I’ve been bleeding for the past 10 minutes. It’s a fair amount of blood and I’ve got no band-aids. How can I make it stop bleeding? I’ve been holding paper towel on it but it’s not getting any better.
