What should I say in the email I want to send just to touch base?

Asked by Dutchess_III (47126points) February 27th, 2017

I worked as a temp for the last two months of 2016 at a great business. The word was that they are trying to get the OK to hire a new person, and I am first in line. They won’t know anything until April though.

I still have the email addresses of the HR gal, and my immediate boss. I just want to touch base, but I don’t know what to say.

Any suggestions?

Are you on a casual basis with them?

If so, “Hi John and Rebecca, I just wanted to reach out to you both and say hi and let you know I’m still interested in the marketing position. I know you said you wouldn’t hear anything until April. Please keep me in mind when and if anything opens up. I really enjoyed working with you and the team!”

Jca’s text looks good, though I would write “a marketing position” rather than “the marketing position”, since they said they would try to create an opening or something.

It’s an administrative position. I would note I’m interested in any admin position that may come available. But they know that. But I’ll put it in anyway.

Thanks you guys.

OK, this is it:

“Hello John and Rebecca,

I just wanted to reach out to you both to to say “Hi,” and to let you know I’m still interested in any administrative position that may come available. I know you won’t know anything until after the first quarter, but please keep me in mind when, and if, anything opens up. I really enjoyed working with you both, and everyone else there!

FYI, got ready to actually send it then hesitated. I wasn’t exactly sure how to spell “John’s” last name. Was it with or without a U? I was 99% sure it was without a U, but to be safe I just sent it to “Rebecca.” I didn’t want her to notice I’d spelled “John’s” name wrong.
Then, a moment later, it occurred to me that if I send one to “John,” and it’s spelled wrong, it will be sent back, then I’ll know. I was certain it was right though.
Guess what…I was wrong! And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how we get pregnant!
So then I sent one with the other spelling, and it wasn’t returned.

“Rebecca” replied with, “Hi! It’s great to hear from you. We will definitely keep you in mind. Hope all is well.”
I said, “Great! Have a good day.”
She said, “Thanks! You too. ”

So I feel pretty good.
